A trio of distinct amp styles
The Dream ’65 comes loaded with 3 different amp versions for a wealth of sonic possibilities. Naturally, this pedal emulates the stock version of its inspiration, but two modded versions are included with unique boost controls for added flexibility.
Stock: Looking for lush cleans? This is the setting for you! In this mode, the boost knob adds up to 10dB of clean gain.
Lead: On this mode, the bright cap is removed when the boost is above OFF, giving lower boost settings a rich, rounded off tone. Once you make it past around 10 o’clock, the Dream ’65 kicks up the midrange for a greater punch when playing with drive.
D-Tex: The pride and joy of Texas blues tone! This setting significantly increases gain and midrange for a smooth overdriven tone. Cranking the boost knob on this mode reduces the impact of the tone stack, leading to a more open tone.
Switch up your speakers
Part of the Dream ’65’s magic is found in the dead-on speaker/cab emulations, bolstered by Universal Audio’s Dynamic Room Modeling technology. The Dream ’65 comes loaded with three cab/mic/speaker settings, seamlessly matched to the three different amplifier modes. Guitarists looking to cover a wide sonic range will love experimenting with the different speaker and amp pairings; plus, when registering the Dream ’65 with Universal Audio, you get three more free cab sims to play with!
4-cable mode offers powerful channel switching
Each pedal in Universal Audio’s UAFX series features a special “4-cable” mode accessible via the UAFX Control app, allowing you to bypass your amp’s preamp when the pedal is engaged for incredibly realistic tube-style tones. By hooking your pedal up to both your effects loop send/return and the front of amp input, you can instantly switch between your amp’s stock tone and your UAFX pedal routed straight into the power amp, effectively adding two extra channels to your amplifier. ABOUT THE UNIVERSAL AUDIO DREAM '65 REVERB AMPLIFIER PEDAL
Why did you emulate a '65 Deluxe Reverb amplifier?
TM
Well, it's arguably the most classic amp in history, and it's the most recorded. And it's really apparent once you start using one how incredibly versatile they are. You can do anything from super-clean stuff like country or early Jerry Garcia tones, you can do Texas blues-rock, or you can get pretty saturated like '80s L.A. sounds.
What's the advantage of using the Dream '65 Reverb pedal versus the real amp?
TM
The Dream '65 Reverb can pretty much cover any single thing you could ever need. If you wanted to cover all these sounds using a real amp, you'd need to swap out speakers or mod your amp. With the pedal, you just flip a toggle switch and have all these sounds available to you.
How did you find the specific amplifier you wanted to re-create? How did you decide on a gold reference standard?
JS
For starters, I knew I couldn't use my own amps because I modded them over the years trying to chase different sounds. They have added middle controls, bypassed bright caps, masters, and other popular mods. Some of the stuff in the Dream '65 Reverb replicates those mods, but I knew that I needed to find a stock amp to start with.
So, where did you find the right amplifier for the job?
JS
Luckily, I'm in close proximity to a place called Norm's Rare Guitars. I called Norm and he had an amp he'd been holding onto for many years. It came from a session guy in town here. He dug it out of his locker. I had to apologize to him because I cranked it to 10 — the amp had to have that lead sound. In the end, it was everything you could hope for. I could get cleans down low, and when I put it on six or seven with a humbucker, I got the coolest lead sound. I knew I couldn't leave the store without this amp!
It has a great-sounding reverb tank, too, correct?
JS
Yes. In fact, it's the tank we used for the Golden reverb pedal. It's the best-sounding spring tank I've ever heard. Now, with the Dream '65 Reverb, we've finally been able to release the whole thing as one giant love letter to that circuit.

Fantastic Solution! Well done UA!
I use a princeton or deluxe and prefer to use an amp whenever possible but there are situations where I need. direct solution. I plugged this up and it was like having the deluxe. I felt it worked good witht he in ear solution.
For me the amp in the room is what I am always chasing especially when on in ears. I would always rather have my amp beside me but I had an enjoyable live playing experience with the dream and treated it just like my amp.
