A new book has shed light on a particularly heated exchange that occurred between Meghan Markle and Prince William.
According to a royal author, a disagreement between Meghan and Kate Middleton escalated into a confrontation with William after the duch*ess of Sussex allegedly made a remark about the Princess of Wales having "baby brain."
The incident reportedly saw Meghan Markle tell Prince William to "get your finger out of my face" as he attempted to intervene in the dispute.
Once speculated to be the new face of the royal family as the Fab Four, Harry and Meghan's relationship with William and Kate failed to live up to the hype, and the couple fell out of each other's good books.
The duke and duch*ess stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 to live in the US and further stifled relationships with William and Kate when they made several bombshell allegations against them in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and in Harry's memoir, "Spare."
According to the Mirror, in the new book, "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," author Robert Jobson weighs in on the broken ties between the two couples and recounts a particular incident in which the former "Suits" star talked back at William.
At the time, Meghan allegedly made remarks about Kate's hormones and having a "baby brain" just after she gave birth to Prince Louis.
When the four of them sat down to clear the air, the Princess of Wales reportedly demanded an apology, stating that she and Meghan were "not close enough for you to talk about my hormones."
Not liking her behavior, William accused Meghan of being "rude" for her comments, which allegedly caused Meghan to snap at the future king, saying, "Take your finger out of my face."
The report in Jobson's book is strikingly similar to Harry's account in "Spare," in which he wrote that Meghan and her sister-in-law, Kate, didn't get along.
He noted that when they sat down to iron out their differences, Kate demanded an apology from Meghan, to which she did apologize, saying that it was the way she spoke with her friends.
However, everything turned sour when William chimed in and "pointed a finger at Meg" before allegedly saying, "Well, it's rude, Meghan. These things are not done here."
Harry noted that Meghan responded, "If you don't mind, keep your finger out of my face."

How would they like it if a woman co-worker - whom they had just met - told them their opinions were invalid because their hormones were running amok? The resulting tantrums would burn down HR!

I can picture Megan being the type that talks for other people as a way of being friendly and trying to fit in, but it's uncomfortable for the other person because people who do this tend to be know-it-all types who try to establish closeness too soon, and they're usually not even accurate in their assessments (that no one asked for anyway). Most people find it awkward to correct people like her and usually just let it go to try to be nice, but Kate's in a position where it's probably important to establish appropriateness in relationships, and Megan-splaining is something one would want to nip in the bud early on.

[quote] Meghan makes an insulting remark, plays it down as “just between friends”, and gets indignant that William brushes off her heartfelt excuse.
What r31 said. Exactly. Shouldn't the enlightened feminist Markle have known to avoid ascribing "baby brain" to another woman?
But William shouldn't have made that physical gesture and if Markle reacted to it the way it's reported here, well, that's on him and he took the risk of what Markle reportedly dished out to him.
Getting back to Markle. I don't know why I'm surprised, but I truly am.
I thought, at the stage of her life when she met Harry, she had been around the block a few times. I use that phrase in its positive sense.
I'll never get it, therefore, why she wasn't shrewd enough, careful enough, when first being introduced into the BRF, to, of course, be true to herself and BE HERSELF around Harry's immediate family but also, hang back and study everybody, and the environment, at least a bit.
Read the room.
I'll never meet Catherine, Princess of Wales. That's fine. I'm my own Princess.
But just for the sake of a hypothetical scenario, if I was going to meet her and possibly be around her more in a private setting, I wouldn't assume physical and verbal familiarity with her, as it has been reported Markle did.
Why? It's obvious even from just the videos and pix I've seen of her that one of the reasons she is excellent when she is "on duty" is there is no doubt about the line between her public persona and her private one.
Tread, therefore, accordingly around her. Not because you want to kiss her ass. But because you want to preserve your own value to yourself.
Put succinctly, make Kate put the effort into approaching you, knowing you.
And if she doesn't put that effort in, then you know where you stand, where she stands, and you've preserved your dignity.
As for William, Markle never had a chance with him. He disliked her right off the bat, and would have, no matter if Harry had never been born and they had met anyway.
It's true. I started off wanting to like Markle. I watched the wedding and wanted to observe how she played her cards. I've always posted that it wasn't easy for her to have to maneuver in that milieu.
But I developed a dislike of her. I find an off-putting artifice to her personality. She's a phony. And Harry is a fool and would be, even if he had never met Markle.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 1, 2024 11:39 AM |
I doubt this happened - at least as reported - as Kate would have just ignored Meghan and not bothered to respond to her. Again, it's one of those alleged incidents that only the people involved were present at, with no witnesses, so either it's made up or Meghan has leaked her own highly embellished recollection of events.
Lol at the people who think Meghan scored anything over William with this, especially as Harry himself failed big time with his own version of the story. If anything, William wins for standing up for his wife when she's subject to a deranged attack.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 1, 2024 11:49 AM |
It's pretty obvious Markle never got along with William and Kate from the early days. You don't have a confrontation about a "baby brain" remark if things had been fine up until that point.
I suspect both could have made more effort, but Markle seemingly thought the RF was against her and Harry straight away, hence her defensiveness. Even though Harry would have told her what being in the RF entailed, once she actually started living that life, it was pretty clear she couldn't hack it. I can't even blame her; almost no one lives like that now. It would be hard enough for an English person to adjust to (unless from a similar class) let alone an American.
What's clear now is that there's a rift which isn't likely to ever be fully healed, even if Harry and Meghan split up. There's too much bad blood now.

Again, reading is so fundamental. The original account says William "pointed" at her and Meghan said to get your finger out of my face. The pro-Meghan responders then jump in stating it as though William was in her face.
This is Harry's reported account:

Markle got caught up in the positive publicity of her first being revealed as Harry girlfriend, then his future bride.
That must've been a heady time for the thirsty Markle. That's not a criticism of her. Why should she be singled out for that in a sea of thirsty celebrities who all are looking for it, from Brad Pitt to Carrot Top?
But, she took the wrong lesson from all her early positive publicity.
I think she actually thought that the BRF would adjust to her notion of Hollywood celebrity, and operate performing her Royal duties from that, rather than her adjust to being a working Royal and their protocols.
She was never going to fit in. She may have if her and Harry had been mature enough to have taken a good look at staying working Royals and determined that they could carve out a place, not in competition to Willaim and Kate, but in providing a positive contrast to them.
Now, she's scrambling around for celebrity relevance, and he was born one, but seems to wish he was anywhere else than California.

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton was caught up in a firestorm of bad publicity after her Mother’s Day snapshot, taken by Prince William, had noticeable Photoshop errors. At the time, the world didn’t know she was engaged in a cancer battle, and the narrative took on a life of its own. In the wake of the social media fury, the Princess of Wales accepted accountability for her editing errors. Yet the upcoming book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen by Robert Jobson, alleges that William left his wife to fend for herself.
According to an excerpt, obtained by the Daily Mail, William “refused to budge” in taking one for the team with Kate. “His PR team suggested he and Catherine issue a joint statement to help deflect the blame from her. The initial prepared statement used the words ‘we’ and ‘our’, but the prince decided not to release it,” wrote Jobson. Even though the Prince of Wales took the photo, he allowed Kate to take the blame. “After all, it was his wife who’d manipulated the snap and nothing to do with him, and if the press found out that he was covering for the princess, the speculation would only grow. When the statement was finally issued, it came from Catherine alone,” the excerpt reads.
That is quite the allegation from Jobson, and it doesn’t paint William in a very flattering light. Kate’s statement on X seems almost haunting now that the world knows she was going through a health crisis at the time. She wrote, “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.” It’s confusing as to why Prince William couldn’t share the blame with his wife, who was in a very vulnerable position.
William has been accused before of his “selfish agendas” and “ego” — and it’s not just Prince Harry who has called him out for this. Royal author Omid Scobie told Newsweek in November 2023 that the Prince of Wales often puts himself ahead of even King Charles III. “Despite being fed those lines or the briefings about father and son working in lockstep with one another, we’ve seen father and son on completely different paths at times, with completely different views on things and we haven’t seen them together on engagements,” he claimed.
The future king reportedly believes that his father’s reign is “transitional” or a “bridge” to get to his own time on the throne. But what William may not like to hear is that Kate is considered the real superstar in the royal family. “For many of those in the press,” Scobie wrote in his book, Endgame. “Kate is the monarchy’s last ‘shiny thing’ for many years to come, even more so given William’s slow fade into his staid institutional role and the departure of Harry and Meghan.” No one should take away Kate’s shine, especially her husband.

I think most American’s would assume that a woman is free to speak intimately to her sister-in-law in private. The idea that such a conversation would be deemed worthy of a demanded apology is quite strange.
It’s a different matter if the remark itself were inherently offensive. We don’t have the context to judge that, but I don’t think there mere suggestion that someone may be influenced by hormones is per se out of line.

Of course it's out of line. "You've got baby brain" is in no way a compliment. It's another way of saying "Well, that was stupid of you."

This story simply repeats what Harry wrote in Spare. He and Meghan are the source. Obviously, their goal throughout the book was to make William and Catherine look as awful as possible.

The context was Kate herself saying she was forgetful. Meghan was supplying her with an excuse. It was not meant as an insult but Kate was offended by what she considered an inappropriate familiarity by referring to her hormones.

Do you really think they were all hanging out together? Movie nights and pub crawls? No, Kate had two kids and was pregnant with a third. (Yes, yes Nanny Maria). Meghan was flying in every couple months for a long weekend with Harry. I don’t think they met more than a handful of times. But here’s the thing. You can meet someone and right off the bat know you’re not going to be bosum pals. Good manners and polite conversation, sure. Watch the engagement video, the “is he kind?” faux ingenuousness, the hand clutching, and ask yourself if you’d be friends with someone like her.

At the time they were both just sons of the Prince of Wales, the difference in rank being solely based on order of birth. Even if it were more than that, enforcing rank among the immediate family is not necessary when none is the monarch.

I find Meghan incredibly annoying, but I’m starting really dislike Catherine.
She’s always been a glorified housewife who seems to pride herself on not eating. Nothing to admire there.
Now she’s dragging her husband into cat fights? How trashy.
Yet another thing Catherine can’t do. She couldn’t have her own career, so became a housewife. Can’t really seem to handle royal duties with any regularity (before her illness.) Can’t seem to feed herself. Now she can’t even handle an idiot like Markle without running to her husband.

[quote] She couldn’t have her own career, so became a housewife.
So?
I never understood this perspective on woman's rights and feminism that looks down their nose at a woman choosing to be a housewife and/or a mother.
That was never my choice. I'm happily childless and have enjoyed a professional career. But it wouldn't occur to me to knock another woman for wanting to be a housewife and mother. It's about CHOICE.
Properly understood, feminism is about raising consciousness on the patriarchal barriers that should be dismantled so women have the mobility and access to choose to live their lives however they want to, including striving to be the wife of the future King of the UK and Commonwealth realms.

Which just PROVES that she was being a hormonal crybaby.
Meghan is a girly girl, and that's what they do when around other females. It's a very American thing, even if you don't know each other. They bond over womanhood. It's like "sisters supporting sisters."
Like at that business event Meghan recently attended. It was an all-female function, and that's the kind of things that they would joke around with each other about.
It was an innocent remark that Meghan thought "might" bond her to Kate.
However, she had no idea that Kate would blow the whole f*cking thing out of proportion, AND call William in to scold Meghan for it, AND to make her apologize.
I mean, who does that????
Oh, I know who. A spoiled, entitled housewife who thinks she's better than everyone else.

Yeah, noted they have staff and are multi-millionaires if not billionaires when all the properties, art, jewels and shillings are added up, but that doesn't take away from the fact that to be "ON" when in public is a four-letter word - W.O.R.K.

Oh bullsh*t on Markle trying to make a harmless, attempt at bonding remark. Even if viewed in the best possible light, she shouldn't have said it.
In fact, there are a lot of things Markle shouldn't have said.
She's the one who resurrected the cruel, sexist nickname the UK tabloids coined for Kate- "Waity Katie" by deliberately repeating in on the Oprah interview.
Markle tried cloaking her saying it in a sympathetic context : look how mean the UK tabs have been to both of us -but I saw through her Mean Girl indulgence like Saran Wrap.
Markle could have made that point without repeating those two words. But she wanted to humiliate Kate on world-wide television by repeating that slur, knowing how it must sting Kate.
So much for the feminist sisterhood Markle likes to espouse.
You see, Markle Stans? It's not dislike for dislike's sake. There are reasons based upon her own behavior to know Markle for the Mean Girl Phony she is.
I'm convinced that in addition to insinuating bigotry, the Waity Katie thing that is another reason William will never forgive her, although he should.
After all. Markle is now downgraded to a mere striving celebrity, and if there is one thing the future King of the UK can be, it's magnanimous.

In fact, that is the goal “the Patriarchy” has always encouraged women to pursue.

R95 Catherine is not a "housewife." When she married into the royal family, William was only the heir to the heir and as such, the pressure was not on either one of them to jump into royal engagements right away. William worked as rescue pilot while Catherine did what no royal woman has really ever done (even Diana) but her children first. Catherine priorities her children over everything and frankly, given what a mess most royals make of their lives often due to disengaged parents, it's probably in the best interest of the future of the monarchy. That being said, they did undertake engagements and foreign tours and since Queen Elizabeth died, they've upped their workload.
Lets also be real here, while William actually had a proper job for a number of years, Harry did not and carried out fewer engagements than both William and Catherine. And Meghan in two years, worked a total of just 75 days while still managing to take something like 12 private trips aboard (despite saying the royals took away her passport). And since leaving the royals what the f*ck do they even do? If we're going to bitch about work ethic, William and Catherine look like workaholics next to H&M.
