It's been 5 months and NSS is $210!!! Honest opinions about the library? Like brutal honest? Any experienced users hanging around? Audio tracks that you used NSS?
I followed the main discussion but it ended up being mostly about issues and requests...

Admittedly, could have used some more work, but it was just a test.

For me it was not the wondrous new library it was set out to be, but it has its highlights.
One thing that annoys me: There are just to many single articulation patches to be really usable without using templates. So when I need to add strings I mostly go grab CSS instead, it just loads up so fast!
Cautiously interested in the expansion that is in development. May just the hoarder speaking in me.

This is the main thing that annoys me. There only being single articulation patches in itself wouldn't be as much of a problem, the problem is that different articulations have different delays by default. So you can't load up every articulation in an instance of kontakt and use one track to control (via art sets or what have you) because the legatos and shorts are twice the delay as the marcatos and ...trills (for some reason). You can't even have the longs and shorts on different tracks because the trills have a different delay than the trems. So the library in it's current state kinda forces you to use individual tracks per articulation.
The delays programmed into the patches should either be uniform or there should be keyswitches.

Can't find any details on this... do we know what's going in the expansion?

I absolutely love this library and its tone ! I've been using it more and more and it has progressively replaced a big part of my string template. It doesn't have every articulation one can dream of, but there's plenty to love here, especially at the price.
Can't share anything publicly unfortunately.
BTW I'm using them with Expression Maps and all single articulations loaded in a single Kontakt Instance... No issues with the delays! I've set a negative delay of -140ms, Iterative Quantizing on everything and adjust manually the Marcatos and trills which have a different delay. Works for me!

Add it to the cart from the spring sale link, then add the 30% coupon code to get $209.

My most simple description:
Buy it for the tone, don't buy it for the workflow.
Longer:
I love the tone, I think it needs to be updated and worked upon to really justify its price. A key Switching patch would be really nice, as would a few more processed mixes like LAMP has.
I've been blending this library with 8DIO century strings (particularly the ensemble patches of nss with century) and been really, really happy with the results, especially for aggressive shorts when combined with century ostinato shorts. Kinda feels like anyone that owns it now has paid for it to be updated for people later.
I can't recommend it as a 1st purchase for someone just getting started, I can reccomend it for people who have other libraries and think the tone of this one sounds amazing.
I bought it almost immediately when I first heard the tone, no regrets, it sounds exactly like what I had hoped for. I love this library, but its limitations prevent it from being a workhorse library for me.

I really, REALLY liked the sound of these. It looks like the expansion is paid, and i didn't see a mention of portamento. Is there a chance of this turning modular?
From a business standpoint though, it makes a lot of sense to discount it down before a paid update.

Any idea as to when this offer ends? The site just mentions "Offer ends soon!"

I asked Ollie the same thing and he said at least a week, which is plenty of time to digest everything that has recently been unveiled. Hey @Sonokinetic BV and @Andrew Aversa, your move now!

+1.... adding to that the lack of fingered legato & portamento makes it even more limited than I thought (at least for me)... I'd say a much logical and cheaper(comparing regular prices) alternative would be Areia which I think has a very similar tone in terms of that clear & tight stage. It also comes with lots of short note lengths/variations that makes a more complete (or in fact a workhose) library I think

Talked to Oliver, he told me that its specifically a mix between fingered and bow change legato. Some players playing bow change, some fingered.
