Day Randy L. Day, age 64, passed away 3 a.m. Friday January 28, 2011. She transitioned peacefully after a long year of battling breast cancer and other complications. She fought through this past year to live as long as she could to be with her family.
Her first priority was always family and she never hesitated to show her love. Randy was born in Bellfountain, Ohio on September 18, 1946. There she grew up until she graduated from Bellfountain High School in 1964. After high school, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. This is where she met her husband of 43 years.
Randy and Ron fell in love at first sight. They got married in Indianapolis, IN on June 3, 1967. While in Indianapolis, Randy received a B.S. in teaching from Indiana University and a Masters in Teaching from Ball State University. After graduating with her Masters, they moved to Chadron, Nebraska.
While in Chadron, Randy had her first 2. children. She moved to Casper, WY in 1979 and continued to stay home with her family. She then had 2 more children. The last child passed away just shy of two years old due to a complication in a heart surgery.
Randy stayed very active in her children's lives as she helped out at school functions and ran the children around to various activities. She enjoyed family camping and boating trips in the summer. Once all the children were well into school, Randy went back to work as a 6th grade teacher at Fairdale Elementary for 11 years, where she retired in May 2003. During the last few years of her life, she has taught at Casper College, worked at Block and spent most of her time helping raise her 2 grandchildren. Randy also enjoyed reading books, watching movies, playing cards and gardening.
She also truly loved animals especially cats and horses. She could easily take any stray animal in, just to give them shelter and plenty of love. Randy will be dearly missed by many. She was a quiet person who would open up with close friends and family. She loved to bring humor to those around her.
Randy is survived by the Love of her life Ron Day of Casper, WY; daughter and son-in-law Casey Chris Rislov of Casper, WY; Son Kirk Day of Mill Valley, California; daughter and son-in-law Carly Jason Sullivan of Casper, WY; Grandchildren Kylie Sullivan Alex Rislov; Her parents Connie David Humphreys of Indianapolis, IN; siblings Mike Humphreys and Vickie Geiger and their families of Indianapolis, IN Randy's family thanks Shepherd of the Valley for taking such great care of her. Enjoy your favorite coffee drink this Friday at any of the following local coffee companies: Wyoming Coffee Company, 4002 E.
2nd Street; Sunrise Coffee 4360 S. Poplar; Metro Coffee Company, 241 S. David; Blue Heron Books and Espresso, 201 E. 2nd Street (Atrium Plaza); and The Art of Coffee, 1973 E. A Street.
"A coffee break for her sake" was initiated when Kenyne Schlager learned the story of a dedicated working mother suffering from a severe cervical injury. In December 2010, an illness and reaction to medication caused a cervical injury so severe that the mother lost the use of her arm. In January 2011, she underwent extensive cervical surgery. Unfortunately, her family lives in Alaska and is unable to support her during her recovery. Her employer has been very supportive, but she has exhausted all vacation and sick benefits.
Therefore, "a coffee break for her sake," was initiated to allow this wonderful mother time to heal and not worry about her financial needs. All money raised will go directly to the mother and daughter for groceries, rent, and other necessities.
